Where Are We?

Our Savior Lutheran is blessed with the opportunity to praise God and respond to His love in worship and song each Sunday morning (Summer, from 9:30-10:30; Rest of year, 10:30-11:30).  Led by Marjoleine Gravley, our parish musician, the choir provides leadership for that service. The congregation enjoys worshipping in a wide variety of liturgical settings.  We busy learning new setting in the Evangelical Lutheran Worship and we also use the Schubert Deutsche Messe, Now the Feast and Celebration, The Mass of Creation and occasionally the Chicago Folk Service. During Lent and Advent we have special Wednesday evening services when either Compline, The Holden Vespers Service, or Vespers from ELW are used.

The choir enhances worship with a variety of musical literature from traditional to contemporary, and hymns and anthems are always linked to the theme for the day which is usually taken from the Gospel lesson.  The choir regularly rehearses from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m on Wednesdays.

We are blessed with many  talented members who share their gifts as cantors, soloists, and lectors.  Young people serve as communion assistants, acolytes and crucifers.

The Altar Guild takes care of Communion preparation and clean up and to care for the font when there is to be a baptism.
